Gallery r is RIT’s metro art space, featuring exhibitions and projects by RIT students, faculty, alumni and visiting artists.
The gallery opened its doors in 1999 on Park Avenue — serving as a downtown exhibition space for the School of Art for over 10 years. In 2012, it reopened in Rochester’s Neighborhood of the Arts at 100 College Avenue, near Village Gate Square and the Anderson Arts building.
Gallery r now serves as a preeminent venue for the College of Imaging Arts & Sciences, which houses six schools: Art, American Crafts, Design, Film & Animation, Media Sciences, and Photographic Arts & Sciences. RIT faculty, staff and students from all six schools contribute their time and talent to sustain the gallery’s exhibition programming, and students gain valuable experience working in a professional gallery setting.
Open to the public Thursday – Sunday, 1-5 PM, Gallery r typically hosts First Friday receptions (check our exhibition schedule page for details.) Admission to Gallery r is always free.
